Legitimation of informal practices such as graffiti or street art often subjects them to issues of semantic perception. The transformation of the street context into an institutional one, in this case, causes a contradiction. The tendency of such change and contextual tearing causes skepticism regarding unauthorized street activity and the artist's self-identification. Instead, the phrase «You Better Tell Me What it is» is not a critical work but a rhetorical question addressed to the community related to the present state of things in the «street art» field.
